Most online file converters work the same way: you upload your file to a server, wait in a queue, and hope the download link still works ten minutes later. Formatly skips all of that.

Every conversion — image, PDF, spreadsheet, or document — runs directly in your browser using the same rendering engine that displays this page. There is no upload step because there is nothing to upload to. Your file is read, transformed, and handed back to you as a download, without ever touching a network request.

That approach has a nice side effect: it’s fast. There’s no queue, no server load, and no waiting on someone else’s infrastructure. It also means Formatly only supports conversions it can do reliably — we’d rather leave a format off the list than offer a conversion that quietly corrupts your data.
